Michael L. Silk (Ph.D. University of Otago) is an Assistant Professor and a member of the Physical Cultural Studies Research Group located in the Sport Commerce and Culture Program, Department of Kinesiology, at the University of Maryland. His work focuses on the production and consumption of sporting space, and is committed to the critical, multidisciplinary and multi-method interrogation of sporting practices, experiences structures. Dr. Silk, and his colleagues, are particularly interested in the reconfigurations of physical and imagined space and place within the machinations and operations of the contemporary sports industry.
