Prospective Students

Whether you are a transfer student or a high school senior, you need to understand the application process at the University of Maryland.

The Pre-Transfer Office can assist you in the transfer process. The Pre-Transfer Advising Program assesses the readiness of students to transfer to UM and estimate their time to degree completion. Pre-Admission Transfer Advisors provide advising for students interested in transferring from community colleges as well four year schools. Contact the Pre-Transfer Office to schedule an appointment.

Current Students at UMD: Change of Major

If you are a student already enrolled at the University of Maryland, you must contact your new department in order to change your major.

For those interested in Kinesiological Sciences, please call KNES main office at 301.405.2450 to sign up for a change of major workshop.

Students looking to change their major to Physical Education, please call KNES main office at 301.405.2450 in order to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ana Palla-Kane.

IMPORTANT: After attending change of major workshop all students are required to develop a 4-year academic plan. Your major will only be changed after your 4-year plan has been approved.
