Southern Maryland Dental Society

SMDS is a affiliate of MSDA that includes members from Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties.

What is tripartite organized dentistry?

"Tripartite" describes dentistry's three-tiered structure of membership, and is also used to describe the organizational tiers collectively. To be an active tripartite member, dentists must join their local (component) society, state (constituent) society, and the ADA. Each level within the tripartite sets its own dues, elects its own officers and directors, and makes decisions on the services and benefits it offers to members.

District of Columbia Dental Society

The D.C. Dental Society is the professional association representing dentists in the Nation's Capital. In existence since 1866, the Society is equivalent to a state chapter of the American Dental Association.

Mission Statement
To promote the growth of the dental profession through educational programming, advocacy for our members, and raising the oral health literacy of our community.

Maryland State Dental Association

The Maryland State Dental Association represents the dental profession's efforts to provide high quality and ethical oral health care to the public. It is the professional association for dentists in the state of Maryland, and a constituent of the American Dental Association. There are twelve component dental societies located throughout Maryland. These three entities make up the tripartite membership system of the ADA; the national level, state level, and local level.

The Virginia Dental Association (VDA) is a non-profit organization whose vision is to continually improve the quality of dental education and treatment within the state of Virginia. We are affiliated with the American Dental Association (ADA) . The structure of our association is known as "tripartite" in that a member of the ADA is typically a member of three associations at once. The first being ADA, the "national association", the second being the VDA or "state association", and the third being the local or "component" dental society. The VDA has a Board of Directors who govern and direct the association.

The Maryland Center for Health Equity (M-CHE) strives to ensure that all Americans have an equal chance to lead healthy lives.  Through research enterprises, community outreach, and education programs, the M-CHE acts across the state and the nation to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities and achieve equitable health status and health care for all.
