(Professor, Department of Behavioral and Community Health; Director, CDC-funded UM Prevention Research Center (UM PRC)) completed his PhD in behavioral science at Johns Hopkins in 1988. He was then on the Georgetown and George Washington University faculties before joining the UM in 1998. He has published >50 articles. As PI of the UM PRC, Dr. Boekeloo facilitates university-community partnerships and community-based-participatory-research in Maryland. His expertise is in behavioral intervention trials to improve communication and reduce high risk behaviors, especially sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, and alcohol use among youth. Dr. Boekeloo has mentored numerous undergraduate and graduate students over the course of his career.
