Dr. Milton earned a BS in Chemistry from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (Cum Laude), an MD from Johns Hopkins University and a DrPH (Environmental Health) from Harvard University. A former Director of MIAEH, Dr. Milton joined the University of Maryland in 2009 and has over 110 publications. He has 30+ yrs of experience in environmental and occupational respiratory epidemiology, toxicology, and infectious disease transmission. Dr. Milton has expertise in exhaled breath analysis of gases and particles, exposure assessment, and health outcomes measurement in respiratory epidemiology. His work on exhaled breath includes analysis of gases and particles, to understand how the lung generates particles and how best to sample these particles while preserving their biological properties. He has mentored a number of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty.
