Founded at the University of Maryland in 1946, Gymkana currently serves as an outreach program with the aim to promote healthy, drug-free living through its gymnastic and acrobatic performances and programs. 

Eligibility/membership

Current University of Maryland students are eligible to join. No audition or gymnastics experience required. Members must meet a minimum number of practice and contribution hours. All active and pledge members must remain 100% alcohol-free during the season, and drug and tobacco free year-round. Find out more about how to join.

Current activities

  • Annual Maryland Madness performance
  • Annual Flip-a-Thon performance and fundraiser
  • Travel shows during the Spring semester for grade schools to promote healthy living
  • Annual Home Show performance in the Xfinity Center
  • Annual Maryland Day performance
  • Various special appearances, including basketball half-time shows, award ceremonies, and community events
  • Gymkana Summer Camp for ages 5-16
  • Saturday Program classes for youth and adults
