The Needs Assessment survey was conducted during the fall of 2012. More than 3,000 behavioral health and primary care providers responded. The survey identified providers’ prior military connections, the extent to which they currently screen for military status, their knowledge and confidence to treat issues that affect veterans and their families, and their specific training interests. The data provide insights about screening, gaps in knowledge, and use of best practices that have been valuable in planning future provider training programs.
