Below you see our current experimental set up. The infants sit on the red seat that is attached by a rigid, steel frame to the force platform. During testing, the child's body sway is measured by three small recording devices placed on the head, between the shoulder blades, and on the lower back.

Similar recordings are also taken from the force platform. To the infant's side is our instrumented touch apparatus. This apparatus allows us to examine the amount of force the infant applies to the surface in three dimensions.

Finally, the touch apparatus sits atop a precision linear positioning table which is driven by a DC brushless servomotor, that allows us to have precise control over amplitude, frequency and velocity of the bar's motion.
