Center for Health Literacy Ice Cream Social
October is Health Literacy Month, a time when health literacy advocates around the world promote the importance of making health information understandable. The Horowitz Center for Health Literacy invites SPH students, faculty, and staff to join us for an ice cream social on Monday, October 23rd, from 3 to 4pm in the Friedgen Student Lounge.
Want to find out whether you are proficient in health literacy? We'll be measuring health literacy at the ice cream social using the Newest Vital Sign. The Newest Vital Sign is based on a nutrition label from an ice cream container. Individuals are given the label and then asked 6 questions about it. Your health literacy level is assessed based on the number of correct responses.
We hope you join us this October to celebrate Health Literacy Month!
