Finalists for the first annual Gold Award will present their ideas and the winning concept will be selected. The Gold Award, newly established with an endowment from founding Dean Robert Gold and his wife Barbara, is intended to spark public health innovation, design thinking and solutions to the world’s most complex public health issues.

A panel of five health entrepreneurs and thought leaders will decide which project to fund on an annual basis. Judges include health strategy consultant and health technology entrepreneur Andre Blackman; Dr. Alyssa Todaro Brooks, Scientific Program Specialist at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center; and Ed Woods, President of TerpSys, an information and technology services company.

Undergraduate and graduate students in the SPH are eligible to apply until February 13. This year's award will be for approximately $5000.
