The University of Maryland School of Public Health will host a national meeting of academics, researchers, scientists, law enforcement, public health officials, advocates and community leaders who are committed to preventing future gun violence and promoting safer gun policies within a public health framework. The summit will focus on strategically identifying the gaps in current gun violence research and knowledge to inform to the development of new research collaborations and serve as a catalyst for gun violence prevention interventions and gun safety policy legislation initiatives in communities and states.
To guide this effort, we have convened leading gun violence prevention experts and scientists from academia, foundations, advocacy organizations, state government, law enforcement, professional societies and others to join a steering committee to frame the agenda for this national summit.  Participation in the event is by invite only.
