Serving Those Who Have Served: Promising Practices for Addressing Behavioral and Mental Health Issues Facing Maryland Veterans and their Families
The Maryland Veterans Resilience Initiative is providing training for behavioral/mental health professional and other helping professionals across the state of Maryland. The March 22nd program provides training for those who currently work, or wish to work, with Maryland veterans and their families. The program will increase participants knowledge of military culture and the strengths, challenges, and concerns of veterans reintegrating to civilian life. Training topics include: - Military culture and impacts of deployment,
- Child and family relationship issues,
- Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD),
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI),
- Substance abuse,
- Sleep disorders and nightmares,
- Womens veterans health issues
A panel of veterans and family members discussing their personal adjustment experiences and programs/resources that have benefitted them.
