OSHER LIFELONG LEARNING INSTITUTE
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at University of Maryland (OLLI UMD) was established in 2006 by a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation and builds on a nine-year history of UMD lifelong learning programs for active adults age 50+. OLLI UMD programs are led by members, UMD professors and staff, government officials, experts from numerous organizations as well as community members. Interaction, participation, lively discussion and meaningful civic engagement are fostered in programs at OLLI UMD's main campuses in College Park, Shady Grove/Rockville, and Laurel as well as at additional satellite campuses.
Members are provided with access to a variety of university resources including the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, the University libraries, the Campus Recreation Center and programs of the Dept. of Health Services Administration and the School of Public Health.
OLLI UMD is comprised of a variety of interrelated programs that serve its multicultural, multigenerational members.

OLLI UMD seeks to enrich the lives of adults age 50+ through three types of inter-related lifelong learning and civic engagement opportunities.
1. Lifelong Learning for the Sake of Learning
Would you like to rekindle and satisfy your passion for learning? Are there intriguing subjects you would have liked to explore but couldn't because of full schedules and busy lives? Would you like to experience the joy of learning and personal growth without the burden of tests, grades, and pressures? Would you like to meet new people and enjoy the camaraderie of other adult learners?
2. Lifelong Learning with a Passionate Purpose
Do you have a passionate purpose that you would like to pursue? Is there a community need that you have always wanted to impact? Would you like to use your talent, time, experience and expertise? Would you like to acquire additional knowledge and skills that would enable you to pursue your passionate purpose and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others?
3. Lifelong Learning to Create New Career Paths
Have you completed a career and are now interested in pursuing another career path? Would you like to experiment before committing? Are you wondering how to acquire the needed training? Do you need some guidance?
