Dr. Deirdre Quinn Received the Best Poster Award at NCFR
Family Science PhD graduate, Dr. Deirdre Quinn, received the “Student & New Professional Poster Award” from the Families and Health section at the 2018 National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) annual conference. Her poster was titled “Factors associated with emerging adult human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine behavior”. Her dissertation work used a cross-sectional survey design to examine the ways in which emerging adults' religiosity and attitudes about sex, and ultimately their sexual risk and protective behaviors, are associated with early-life family modeling of religiosity and family communication about sex.
The Families and Health (FH) Section promotes the health of diverse families and their members across the life span through interdisciplinary activities that facilitate excellence in family health practice, research, education, and policy development.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement with an award to the best student and/or new professional poster. The Family and Health section outstanding student and new professional poster awards are intended to foster scholarly activity and to assist in identifying future leaders.
The National Council on Family Relations, the NCFR Sections, and the Affiliate Councils have established modes of appreciation to recognize those individuals/groups that further the interests of the organization and/or exemplify the standards to which members aspire. These are distinguished colleagues who have unselfishly dedicated themselves to working in the family field, and have given outstanding service. NCFR provides a vehicle for honoring these people through its Awards program.
