Phi Upsilon Omicron, the Family Science Undergraduate Student Honors Society, held an alumni brunch in the SPH student lounge last Saturday, February 27th, 2016. Alumni, many from the recently graduated class of 2015, joined current undergraduate Phi U members to talk about life after graduation. Former President Erinn Gales and former Vice President Jasmine Jenkins spoke about their experiences applying and interviewing for jobs that were relevant to their degrees in Family Science. They also spoke about the process of applying to graduate school and how the workload and pace of graduate student life is different from undergraduate student life.

Students and alumni participated in many fun activities, including a Phi U Jeopardy game with category questions about Phi U History, Membership, and Just for Fun (Pop Culture). Attendees enjoyed seeing which members, current and alumni, knew more information regarding the honors society. Some even knew more than Phi U’s own executive board!

The alumni brunch was a great way for the Gamma Lambda chapter at UMD to stay connected to and strengthen ties with current members and alumni. Phi U hopes to continue holding alumni events throughout the year, making the alumni brunch an annual occasion each spring!
