Professor Shenassa named president-elect of Maternal and Child Health Organization
Family Science Professor Edmond Shenassa is the new president-elect of the Association of Teachers of Maternal and Child Health (ATMCH). He will serve a two-year term for the organization, which supports maternal and child health faculty from schools of public health and other higher education institutions.
ATMCH’s mission is to promote excellence in teaching maternal and child health. They do so by creating networks of colleagues and by providing resources to their national network of MCH teachers.
“My vision is to strengthen the ongoing priorities of ATMCH to provide opportunities for MCH students, academics and professionals to advance their MCH teaching skills while concurrently promoting the field of MCH to non-MCH professionals,” Dr. Shenassa said. “I am looking forward to working with my fellow ATMCH colleagues to reach out to a new set of partners and to nurture a greater understanding of MCH in broader public health, family science, and policy arenas.”
