SPH Raises More than $43,000 on Most Successful Giving Day Yet
Over 24 hours on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, the University of Maryland School of Public Health community came together for our most successful Giving Day to date. Alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students gave a total of $43,136 through 413 gifts--a more than 30 percent increase in donations from last year and a 25 percent increase in the number of gifts.
We also beat our bests for number of faculty/staff gifts (256) and alumni gifts (156)! These generous gifts were met with additional funds made possible by challenges from former dean Dr. Jane E. Clark and Dr. Jill Whitall; founding dean Dr. Robert S. Gold and Mrs. Barbara A. Gold and Dean Boris Lushniak and Dr. Patricia Cusamano. From their generous challenges, we received an additional $15,000!
This year, fundraising champions also played a role in boosting our totals--their efforts raised $2,625 towards our overall gifts. Our Giving Day gift total will also grow because some of the gifts will leverage additional matching funds from other donors. We also won $500 from the university for the best office photo and best Facebook post thanks to Gymkana!
Thank you to all who gave for your generous support for SPH funds for scholarships, research and educational programs to prepare the next generation of fearless public health leaders who will promote and protect health for all!
