Ms. Anderson-Sawyer earned a B.A. in Women’s Health and Counseling through the Individual Studies Department and an M.A. in Health Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her background is in sexual health with a focus on women’s health at the college level. Ms. Anderson-Sawyer coordinated the Sexual Health and Reproductive Education Programs at the University of Maryland Health Center for 10 years. In 2000, she left the University of Maryland and became a faculty member at Howard Community College in the Health Sciences division. There she taught: Human Sexuality, Women’s Health, and, Health and the World of Risk. Ms. Anderson-Sawyer returned to the University of Maryland in 2007 and currently coordinates the Internship Program in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health. Along the way, she has participated in community health event planning and engagement, specifically surrounding the topics of: HIV/AIDS, sexual health and parenting, at risk youth programming, and student mentoring.
