Diamondback: Free dental care given to 1,200 area residents at Xfinity Center

There was nothing but smiles in Xfinity Center on Friday and Saturday, as more than 1,000 uninsured and underinsured area residents reaped the benefits of more than $1 million worth of free dental care.

Walgreens offering over $10 million worth of flu shot vouchers to uninsured this fall

For the fifth consecutive year, Walgreens is offering more than $10 million worth of flu shot vouchers free to those without health insurance coverage and unable to afford a flu shot without the voucher. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is again assisting in the voucher distribution effort to help improve flu immunization rates across the country.

Huge turnout for free dental care clinic at UMD

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -Nearly 800 people received free dental care at a clinic held at the University of Maryland's Comcast Xfinity Center on Friday. More than 1,000 other people were turned away at the door once the event reached capacity, but organizers say it continues Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WJLA) – Thousands lined up outside the University of Maryland’s XFINITY Center Friday for the “Mission of Mercy” free dental clinic.

Many lined up before the clinic’s doors even opened. Charles Jones, who is homeless, spent the night in a folding chair. He says he hasn’t received dental care in at least 15 years.

XFINITY Center Hosts Mission of Mercy Festival

COLLEGE PARK, MD The XFINITY Center will play host to the Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy Festival, sponsored by the University of Maryland Center for Health Equity from Sept 5-6.

Mission of Mercy is a free adult dental clinic composed of volunteer dental professionals and a volunteer staff. The clinic will only be able to serve patients who are 18 years or older.
