Community Partners: 
City of Seat Pleasant, MD, as well as area schools, churches, businesses, and community organizations.

Project Goals:

  • Improve the health of Seat Pleasant residents
  • Enhance learning and research for students and faculty of the University of Maryland.
  • Integrate and apply components of the health education curriculum at the community level. 

Service: examples include health promotion/education workshops

Research: examples include community survey of health needs assessment

Student training opportunities: Students assist with community program planning, implementation and evaluation centered on the issues of STI/HIV through the Sexual Health Education and Prevention program (SHEP) and help  organize community health fairs and education workshops.
