Apply to SHEP

Project Goals:

To assemble and organize a group of undergraduate students at the University of Maryland with an interest in STI/HIV prevention and education. We seek to provide these students with opportunities to gain knowledge and skills in community based participatory research as well as community event planning, implementation, and evaluation. The PRC-SHEP will also provide an avenue toward experiential learning in community health education, networking with other students and researchers who share interest in STI/HIV prevention, and enhanced competency in public health service upon leaving the University of Maryland.

To support UMD-PRC activities and assist in responding to community needs related to STI/HIV prevention specifically in Prince George's County. The students will volunteer in the community on behalf of the UMD-PRC to help organize, implement, and operate STI/HIV education events such as Annual Health Summit, World AIDS Day, and  Maryland Day.
