Current UMD Students
If you are an existing UMD student who would like to change your major to Community Health, you are required to successfully complete the two-step major change process. Students must first attend a Community Health Change of Major Workshop. At this workshop, attendees will receive an orientation to the major, including degree requirements and course sequencing. After attending the Community Health Change of Major Workshop, students must attend an Academic Plan Workshop. At this workshop, students will complete an Academic Plan that outlines all the requirements they have remaining for the Community Health major.
To register for both workshops, please go to the School of Public Health appointment scheduler at: https://appointments-sphl.umd.edu/ramonline and select the workshops that work best with your personal and academic schedules. All workshops are held in the SPH Building and you must be registered for a workshop in advance to attend.
Prospective UMD Students
All non-University of Maryland students interested in declaring Community Health as a major are required to apply to UMD, and can then declare Community Health as a major once admitted. For information on UMD, including how to apply, please go to: www.umd.edu.
Students interested in transferring to UMD from other two-year and four-year institutions can contact the University’s Pre-Transfer Advising Program for UMD-related information before applying. Please visit their website at: http://www.transferadvising.umd.edu/ for more information.
After reviewing the information above, if you have additional questions regarding the Community Health major, please contact the departmental advisor.
