Evaluating an Innovative Model to Support Teen Parents and their Children

This study evaluates an model of care for teen parent families in which mental health services, social work services, and legal services are integrated into pediatric primary care. Teen mothers and their children who receive care in this setting are compared to those receiving standard community-based pediatric primary care from the time the children are infants until they are two years old. Outcomes of interest include maternal mental health, child social-emotional development, maternal educational attainment, maternal reproductive health, father involvement, and healthy relationships.

Strengthening Positive Coparenting in Teen Parents

Dr. Lewin has conducted a cultural and developmental adaptation of an evidence-based intervention to support positive coparenting. Her team is implementing and evaluating this intervention with expectant teen parents (mothers and fathers).
