Giving Day is a one-day fundraising event held for all members of the University of Maryland community. Students, faculty, staff, parents, friends and alumni are invited to participate. The goal is to raise critical funding and engage donors to advance the University of Maryland’s mission. 

This year, you can help SPH win matching funds by participating in both SPH and UMD hourly challenges!

School of Public Health Matching Challenges

School of Public Health - Gymkana Wake Up Match (12 a.m. - 7 a.m.)
A School of Public Health donor will match pp to $1,000 for gifts to Gymkana between 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

School of Public Health - Meal Time Match 
A School of Public Health donor will match up to $1,500 for money raised during meal-times to the Center for Healthy Families fund.
          Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.
          Lunch: 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
          Dinner: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

School of Public Health - Roll and Stroll Match (4-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m.)
Before or after dinner, take a walk and give.  A generous donor will match gifts to the Wrenn Undergraduate Scholarships between the hours of 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Up to $5,000.

School of Public Health – Read Before Bedtime Match (6-7 p.m.)
SPH’s Horowitz Center for Health Literacy works to improve health outcomes through improving health literacy. Donors who give to the center will have their gifts matched between 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Up to $1,000.

School of Public Health - Smile Awhile Match (8-9 p.m.)
Brush and floss well before bedtime. A donor will match gifts to the Maryland Center on Health Equity from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Up to $1,000.

School of Public Health - Sleepytime Match (9 p.m.-11:59 p.m.)
Sleep is important to our wellbeing. Before you go to bed, give a gift. A donor will match gifts to the student organization Public Health Without Borders from 9:00 p.m. to Midnight. Up to $2,000.

Make a gift in support of one of many School of Public Health funds that support student scholarships, fellowships and research experiences. When you do so, you’ll also help us earn matching funds! UMD Hourly Challenges

A variety of challenges will be posted on the UMD Giving Day website. Please note that the School of Public Health can receive additional monies if we win the giving challenges (we're competing with other UMD schools/colleges/units) during those times. These challenges include: 

10-11 a.m.: Most School/College gifts ($1000 prize) 
11 a.m.- 1 p.m.: Most Faculty/Staff gifts ($3,000 prize) 
1-2 p.m.: Best Faculty/Staff photo posted to social with #givingdayUMD hashtag and @UMDPublicHealth ($250 prize)
2-3 p.m.: Most Alumni gifts ($1,000 prize) 
4-5 p.m.: Most Faculty/Staff gifts ($1000 prize)
