This is a great opportunity for graduate student teachers to grow professionally and start the semester with the tools and resources they need to succeed in their teaching. The Graduate School and the TLTC will host the annual campus-wide Graduate Student Teacher Orientation in 1101 Bioscience Research Building (morning sessions) and Plant Sciences Building (afternoon sessions).

The orientation is for both new and returning TAs and graduate student instructors who will be teaching in 2019-2020.

RSVP by Sunday, August 11th to attend.

  • Track 1: New Teaching Assistants - for graduate students that are new to teaching at the University of Maryland, new to teaching in general, and/or whose TA roles will primarily be as a discussion/laboratory section leader or grader.
  • Track 2: Experienced TAs and Instructors of Record - for graduate students that will be teaching their own courses as instructor of record, have a lot of autonomy in their teaching, or who have been teaching as a TA for more than two years.

To register, take this pre-registration survey to determine which track is most appropriate for you!

We will provide plenary sessions on effective teaching and a series of interactive workshops on a wide variety of teaching topics.
