The University of Maryland Prevention Research Center in the School of Public Health is offering training to provide culturally competent mental health, sexual health, and substance use disorder treatment for sexual and gender diverse clients, including men who have sex with men, people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender queer, non-conforming and non-binary. The training will be provided by Michael Vigorito, LMFT, CGP, CST and Sean Lare, LCSW-C.

Who is eligible to attend: Mental health, substance use disorder treatment, case managers, and medical providers at community-based and publicly-funded agencies in the DC/Maryland/Virginia metro area. Space is limited and earlier registrations receive priority.

Cost to participants: There is no cost for providers to attend this training. This is an initiative of the Prevention Research Center at the University of Maryland School of Public Health (UMD-SPH) in collaboration with the Government of District of Columbia Department of Health (DOH) HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD and TB Administration (HAHSTA).

Continuing Education: Clinicians with select licenses have the opportunity to earn 7 continuing education credits for attending the training. The University of Maryland Prevention Research Center is an authorized provider of continuing education for the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiner (Category I). The full-day training is approved for 7 hours of continuing education credits by the Maryland Board of Counselors and Therapists (Category A) and the District of Columbia Board of Social Work. (DC Board of Counseling accepts MD Board of Counselors and Therapists continuing education credits.)
