Brad Boekeloo Presents Research on HIV Prevention at the 2012 CDC PRC Seminar Series
Dr. Bradley Boekeloo, director of the University of Maryland Prevention Research Center and professor in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health, was chosen to present at the 2012 PRC Seminar Series at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta on September 19, 2012.
Dr. Boekeloo spoke on "Success in Meeting HIV Prevention Goals Cross-Border" and described the work of the UMD Prevention Research Center in addressing the HIV epidemic along the national capital border (where Washington, DC and Prince George's County, Maryland meet). While the national capital border area is home to one of the largest HIV epidemics in the U.S. and the epidemic crosses urban/suburban and jurisdictional borders, the efforts of HIV prevention organizations (HPOs) may not. The UMD PRC is working to improve cross-border organizational collaboration for increased HIV prevention. Dr. Boekeloo's abstract was one of only 13 selected for the PRC Seminar Series.
