The Family Science department was excited to welcome all the newly admitted students to UMD at the Admitted Student Open House hosted on Friday, April 5th. At the event, newly admitted students spent the morning with faculty and staff from the department and met with students and campus representatives throughout the afternoon as they learned more about the university’s programs and exciting student life. Newly admitted students had the opportunity to attend special information sessions and campus tours. During the open house, Family Science Professor Dr. Elaine Anderson spoke about the Family Science profession including career options such as pre-counseling/ pre-therapy; trauma, crisis and family health management; law and policy; family health and finance; and mediation law. Dr. Anderson alongside departmental staffers Leslie Davis and Kendyl Oliver, had the opportunity to answer student questions about the major, field, and department.

Graduate program director, Leslie Davis, stated “I very much enjoyed watching Dr. Anderson give her perspective as former Chair of Family Science, on what students can expect in coming to our major”.
