I am a proud first generation college student and a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where I earned my BA in Political Science as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. I earned my MPH in Health Policy from George Washington University.
In my spare time I love to cook traditional Gullah dishes, especially shrimp and grits, as a Gullah native from the Sea Islands off the coast of South Carolina. I also enjoy fantasy fiction; I'm currently reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels. My favorite TV show of all time is Jeopardy. I also love watching Bones and Big Bang Theory. I am the wife of Etienne Toussaint, Assistant Professor of Law at the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law. We have two children, Etienne II and Edward Vincent.
