Lakeshia is a first year Ph.D. student in Epidemiology. Her research interests include investigating multilevel determinants of infectious diseases, primarily HIV and STIs and also understanding how these multilevel determinants can affect the health of vulnerable populations. Before coming to the University of Maryland, Lakeshia served as an epidemiological research fellow in the HIV Incidence and Case Surveillance Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this role, Lakeshia assisted with HIV surveillance activities including serving as lead author on two of CDC’s national HIV surveillance supplemental reports.
