Sharon M. Desmond

Associate Professor, Behavioral and Community Health

Sharon M. Desmond is a community-engaged scholar whose work (via teaching, research and service) aims to improve public health equity and collaborative partnerships between the academy and communities of color. Desmond is a graduate of the University of Toledo (B.S., M.S.Ed., Ph.D.) and has been at the University of Maryland since 1989. She chairs the department's Community Engagement Committee, is a passionate teacher and a committed undergraduate and graduate student mentor.
