Location: Psychology Building, Room BPS1140b

Join us for an insightful panel discussion with Dr. Julia Steinberg, Dr. Marie Thoma, and Dr. Maria Steenland from the Family Science Department as they share their experiences and expertise in reproductive justice careers.

The event will feature a 45-minute Q&A session, followed by a 45-minute networking mix & mingle where attendees can connect with panelists.

Meet the Panelist!

Dr. Steenland, an Assistant Professor of Family Science at UMD's School of Public Health, researches maternal and reproductive health policy in the U.S. Using econometric methods, she evaluates Medicaid policies and their impact on racial and ethnic health inequities, access to fertility services, and postpartum contraception.

Dr. Marie Thoma, an Associate Professor of Family Science at UMD’s School of Public Health, researches reproductive, maternal, and infant health outcomes. She focuses on optimizing health, improving data and methods, and informing evidence-based policies. Her recent collaborations include the Prince George’s County Health Department, USDA, and WHO. She holds a PhD in Population, Family, and Reproductive Health and an MHS in Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Dr. Steinberg, a faculty member in UMD’s Family Science department since 2015, researches the intersection of mental and reproductive health, focusing on family planning. She aims to inform abortion and contraceptive policies to improve access, especially for socially disadvantaged groups. She holds a PhD in social psychology from Arizona State University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in abortion and reproductive health at UCSF.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn, engage, and network!
