From Data to Display: Research Poster Series Part 1: Conceptualizing an Effective Research Poster

Learn how to build a research poster from the ground up by focusing first on its overall structure: layout, template, and visual framework. This session begins with one of the most important questions in poster design: Who is your audience? Understanding whether someone will stop for three seconds or stay for three minutes shapes how you frame your message, organize your content, and decide what evidence deserves space on the poster.

Students will begin the important work of translating a hypothesis or research idea into a compelling visual story, before any real data exists. Participants will leave with a poster mock-up that includes labeled sections and a sized layout to support future development.

This session is only open to University of Maryland Students
