Location: In-person at University of Birmingham, UK with select Virtual talks and activities.

 
 
Hello all and we are excited to hold our Spring 2026 U21 Health Research Exchange Community of Practice  (U21HREx CoP) symposium at University of Birmingham, UK !
 

The theme is Health Policymaking with speakers from the US and UK presenting during seminar sessions. We are particularly excited to have Maryland House Delegates Heather Bagnall , Chair of the current legislative session Health committee and Deni Taveras, member of the health, insurance, and pharmaceuticals subcommittees joining the symposium to present on Maryland's efforts to improve healthcare on April 27th!  Below  is a  Zoom link to join this session.

We also have workshops for students and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) led by the Department of Health Policy and Management PhD, online MPH-Practice and Policy/MHA students, and ECR's in collaboration with UoB colleagues.

  • Guest speaker: Dr. Claire Lemer (Chief Strategy Officer, Birmingham Women and Children’s Hospital; former Harkness Fellow at Harvard University

 

Wednesday April 29th

10:00am - 12:00pm UK- Workshop for Post-Graduate students 

  • Academic podcasting: Dr. Julia Gauly (UoB)
  • Academic publishing: Dr Oliver Chan (UoB)

2:00pm - 4:00pm UK- Career Development Workshop for Master students (UoB & UMD)  

Presented by PhD student Phil Gordon and online MPH-Practice and Policy and MHA students (UMD).
