Dr. Evans will discuss his vision for the department's academic programs, research, scholarship, mentoring and service to the school and profession.

Dr. W. Douglas Evans directs the BRIGHT Institute at GW where his work focuses on the translation of marketing strategies, including health branding and digital technologies, into intervention strategies to promote the adoption of health behaviors and avoidance of health risk behaviors. He has had multiple National Institutes of Health and foundation-funded grants involving the design and evaluation of digital health interventions. He is principal investigator on a National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) grant that will refine and experimentally test a mobile phone app designed to promote exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life among African American mothers in Washington, DC. He is also PI on a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funded study to promote COVID-19 vaccination among health care workers (HCW) in Nigeria using a novel social media recruitment and data collection strategy.
