Feeling like you’re on a deserted island with nothing but textbooks and deadlines? Fear not! Join us during SPH Welcome Week for the ultimate endurance guide for you, and it doesn’t involve eating bugs (unless you’re into that).

Join us for an epic Zoom event, Braving the Semester with Terra Short, on September 17th from 3-4pm EST. Terra is a TV reality star and a tested survivalist who has braved the wilds on Naked and Afraid not once, not twice, but THREE times!

Terra Short made history as the first transgender woman to compete on Naked & Afraid. After conquering their first challenge, they decided to up the ante with a solo survival challenge and then a tribes challenge. Because why not, right? Terra will also talk about their journey of being non-binary and coming out on reality TV. It’s going to be real, raw, and ridiculously inspiring. So, grab your laptop, a snack (preferably not bugs), and join us for a session that will leave you feeling like the ultimate academic survivor.

Never watched Naked and Afraid? No worries! You don’t need to be a fan of bug bites and blurred-out body parts to join our discussion. So, come prepared to laugh, learn and maybe even feel a little more equipped to tackle your own daily challenges.

Questions? Email: ckershaw@umd.edu

See you there, brave scholars!
