For the first time, the School of Public Health (SPH) is hosting our very own Welcome Week! This week-long event is an opportunity for the SPH Community to safely celebrate the return of our faculty, staff, and students to a brand new semester! Each of the activities listed below has been planned and organized by a Welcome Week Committee of dedicated SPH members. All activities are free, fun, and a great way to meet others. So join us Tuesday, September 6th - Friday, September 9th for a formal SPH Welcome!
Tuesday, Sept. 6th

Activity Description: Join us on Tuesday, Sept, 6th from 9:00AM - 11:00am for an 'Ask Me Anything' community gathering.
Have you ever wondered what your instructor's favorite binge worthy show is? Or... Where does your advisor go to to get their favorite snack on campus?
This social gathering allows students to get to know staff and faculty and to ask those curious questions you've always wanted to have answered! Pop-in for a quick chat, meet some awesome people, grab a free cup of coffee, and head on to class. What a SPH TerrapinSTRONG way to start the semester!
Description: Yoga all Levels - Students are introduced to a variety of postures and breath work within a moderate pace "flow” yoga style. Focusing on breath and body awareness moving through yoga postures with healthy alignment. Open to beginners and continuing students.

Wednesday, Sept. 7th
Grab a lunch for yourself and pack a gift for someone else. This event is opportunity for the SPH community to serve our surrounding community. After grabbing a free lunch from one of our stationed tables, visitors can give a few minutes of their time to pack a gift we are donating to a local charity.
Description: Aqua Fit is a Group Fitness class unlike any other. In case you didn’t know, the entire class takes place in the pool, which is a perfect way to get your workout in while keeping cool. In an Aqua Fit class, you perform large muscle movements by reaching your arms and lifting your legs in the water as well as circling your hips and shoulders with the resistance of water added. Furthermore, water gives support in terms of balance, minimizing the potential for injury to the muscles and joints.

This two-day school-wide event is an opportunity to showcase SPH student groups, academic programs, research centers, and so much more! Start your semester by discovering all of the ways to get involved and get connected! All students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to attend.
