Location: In-person at University of Birmingham, UK with select Virtual talks and activities.

Dr. Negin Fouladi, Phil Gordon, Josh Winer, Maryam Hashmi (Doctoral and Master's students (Department of Health Policy & Management),  Bianca Garcia (Assistant Director of Finance & Administration, Department of Health Policy & Management), Darrell Robinson (Digital Content Manager SPH), and Dr. Mangla Gulati, Vice President and Chief Quality and Safety Officer of MedStar Washington Hospital Center are excited to visit the University of Birmingham, UK for the Fall 2024 International Universitas 21 Health Research Exchange (U21HREx) Symposium on October 14-16th. 

They will present on the "US Healthcare Politics Before and After the 2024 Election" and run several student and early career researcher professional development workshops.  They will also meet with University of Birmingham Leadership and Chief Executives of the National Health Service (NHS) Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Medical Center to continue developing joint academic, research, and practice initiatives to foster student and early career researcher development in Health and Social Care. 

Schedule:

In person event Monday October 14th, 1pm GMT- Meet with Chief Executives of the National Health Service (NHS) Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Medical Center to continue developing research and practice initiatives to foster student and early career researcher development in Health and Social Care. 

In person event Tuesday October 15th,10am GMT- Panel presentations from USA, Ireland, and UK “International perspectives on health workforce: challenges and solutions”.

In person event Tuesday October 15th, 2pm GMT- Health Services Management Center Careers Workshop for Health Care Policy and Management students. 

Online Event Tuesday October 15th,10:30am EST/ 3:30 GMT- PhD and Early Career Researcher Networking and Collaboration Workshop: Click here to register for the virtual event. 

Online Event Tuesday October 16th ,10:30am EST/ 3:30 GMT-  Seminar talk "US health care politics before and after the 2024 election". Will include reflections on healthcare after the UK election. This event will be live streamed and you can view by clicking here on the day of the event.
