Location: Virtual

The University of Maryland Prevention Research Center is pleased to announce its next Sexual and Gender Diversity Learning Community (SGDLC) Training Workshop.

The workshop was developed to introduce healthcare providers to basic concepts related to LGBTQ+ mental health and wellness, preparing them to serve LGBTQ+ clients competently. The SGDLC is intended to be delivered to behavioral healthcare providers, including (but not limited to) mental health professionals and drug and alcohol counselors, and medical professionals such as physicians, medical assistants, and nurses.

The SGDLC Training Workshop walks participants through terminology, language and concepts about gender and sex, and tools to provide affirming mental healthcare, individually or administratively. This virtual 7-hour workshop over 2 days is an interactive space led by Dr. Shanéa Thomas, LICSW, to engage in intentional and thoughtful conversations on affirming LGBTQ+ practices and organizations.

Participants will earn 7 CEUs. Cost: $250.
