Join the SPH Student & Alumni Mentor Program!

In the spirit of Terps helping Terps, the School of Public Health values giving back and making a difference in our community. The SPH Student and Alumni Mentor Program enables alumni to share their professional expertise and personal experience with current School of Public Health students. This is our 7th year hosting the mentor program—we’ve learned the connections made in the program help prepare our students for a successful future and leave a lasting impact on our campus community.

Alumni mentors will have the opportunity to provide career advice and personal development for the academic year. We encourage mentors and mentees to connect on a regular basis. However, the frequency and form of communication are things you both can determine. Opportunities to interact through the program will include virtual discussions, networking events and workshops, UMD athletic events, and volunteer opportunities.

Alumni do not have to be on campus to leave a footprint at UMD. Whether you are right down the street or across the globe, we invite alumni from around the world to be part of the SPH Student & Alumni Mentor Program.

The School of Public Health Alumni Network received the Event of the Year Award at the University of Maryland Alumni Association's 2020 Volunteer Leadership Conference. The association recognized the SPH for its 2020-2021 SPH Alumni Mentor Program Kickoff Event and efforts to develop and grow the School of Public Health Alumni Mentor Program. Read the story.
