General Advising Information
If you would like to make an appointment, you may schedule an appointment through TerpEngage. If you have quick questions and do not want to make an appointment, you can email CASA at sphadvising@umd.edu.
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) law protects the privacy of student information. It is the student’s responsibility to understand these rights. We strongly encourage students to maintain their personal confidentiality in terms of their education and privacy. However, a student might be waiving their rights if their camera is turned off, someone is in the room and someone can overhear the conversation. Please understand that personal and confidential information might be shared during advising conversations. We strongly encourage you to seek a private space to have your advising meeting.
Semester drop-in hours are reserved for quick advising questions or questions about registration or policy. If you have any questions or need assistance on a more in-depth topic, you should schedule an advising appointment with an advisor in your department. This way, you can secure a 30-minute appointment and be sure you have the time you need to get your questions answered.
The CASA office Spring 2025 drop in hour schedule can be found here. Advising appointments can still be made through Terp Engage.
For questions or concerns, please email sphadvising@umd.edu or call 301-405-2357. Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.
