Giving Day is Tuesday, March 4th!
The Office has two funds that contributors can donate to this Giving Day! Please consider donating to us!
The Robin Mockenhaupt Endowed Student Award of Public Health Practice fund provides support to graduate and undergraduate students in the School of Public Health. These awards will supplement the financial costs associated with access to the full range of Public Health Practice learning opportunities (classroom, internship/externship, and extracurricular). The funds may be used to support costs including but not limited to tuition, transportation, living expenses, and materials. To date, we have been able to provide students with scholarships to support their practice experiences, but each semester we have to turn students away who need support. Our students spend as much as 36 hours/week dedicating time to practicing public health. Any assistance in their ability to do this work is tremendously appreciated.
The SPH Public Health Practice and Community Engagement Current-Use fund provides ongoing support to our Office in serving as the convening body for all things public health practice and community engagement at the University of Maryland School of Public Health. In our two years as an Office, we have been able to make connections with a wide variety of organizations throughout the state of Maryland and beyond and have built bridges between our students, faculty, and staff and the community at-large. The Office has funds to support part-time efforts of our Assistant Deans as well as one full-time Graduate Assistant, however, to sustain the work of our community-driven projects, we need additional support. In addition to our own projects, we also support student groups like the Terrapin Think Tank to fulfill their mission.
