Amanda Mauri, PhD
Assistant Professor
Amanda Mauri, PhD, is a political scientist and health policy scholar investigating how and why local political economies shape outcomes of policies aimed at reducing disparities in the mental health, substance use treatment, and criminal legal systems. That is, she studies how political and economic structures outside of healthcare—such as local government revenue composition, public health capacity, and fiscal stability—interact to allocate resources in ways that influence whether these policies fulfill their objective of reducing health inequities. Substantively, her work spans community behavioral health care, alternatives to police-led crisis response, the opioid settlements, and cannabis social equity programs.
