Dual Degrees

Undergraduate + Undergraduate

Admitted UMD students are encouraged to discuss their interest in pursuing a second major during advising sessions; this is a single degree with multiple majors. Please reach out to your departmental advisor for more information. Find more information about double bachelor's degrees at the University of Maryland.

Undergraduate + Graduate

BS + MPH Accelerated Degree Program
Any qualifying SPH major (FMSC, HLTH, KNES, PHSC students who meet the admissions criteria) may apply for the SPH Accelerated BS-MPH Program, which allows students to double-count 12 credits of our MPH core course curriculum at the undergraduate level and enter any of our nine MPH concentrations.

BS + Business Master’s (Plus 1) Program
Any qualifying SPH major (FMSC, HLTH, KNES, PHSC) may apply for the Robert H. Smith School of Business' Plus 1 Program, which allows for a dual degree program with the MS and MFin degrees in various business concentrations.

PHSC BS and Pharmacy
The Public Health Science program has a partnership with the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Pharmacy to align the undergraduate coursework with the PharmD admissions requirements. Admission is not guaranteed. Contact the Public Health Science Advising Office for more information.

Graduate + Graduate

MPH + MCP
The dual degree program for a joint MPH + Master of Community Planning with the UMD School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation has recently been approved.

MD + MHA
This dual degree program with the University of Maryland, Baltimore allows students to complete both an medical degree and master of health administration in five years through the University of Maryland School of Medicine and our Department of Health Policy and Management. Contact the Department of Health Policy and Management for more information.

Graduate + Certificate

Certificate, Physical Education
Following successful completion of the Physical Education Master's Certification Program (PE-MCERT) which requires dual enrollment in the Master of Education (M.Ed.) program, students will receive both a Master's Degree (M.Ed.) and Maryland Specialist Certification in K-12 Physical Education. Certificate, Global Health 
Current graduate students within the School of Public Health may enroll in courses that fulfill the requirements of the Certificate in Global Health, a 12-credit program designed to provide basic knowledge in global health delivery to those seeking employment in positions requiring this knowledge.
