Kimberly Schmidt

Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration, Office of the Dean

Kim serves as the chief budget officer for the School of Public Health, advising the Dean on fiscal operations and overseeing a wide range of expenditures.   She provides leadership and support to departments, institutes, and senior administrators.  Her responsibilities extend to leading facilities and IT operations, conducting needs analysis, and overseeing service standards. Additionally, her position enhances operational efficiency, facilitates relationships within the university, and helps represent the School in the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) and American Public Health association (APHA).

Kim brings 32 years of higher education experience, with 30 years at the University of Maryland in progressively expanding roles. She utilizes her memberships in several professional organizations, including the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), and the National College and University Research Administrators (NCURA), to stay abreast of current issues important to higher education. Her academic credentials include a Master of Science in Management from UMUC (now UMGC) and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Miami University in Ohio.
