Major Advising
Current Public Health Practice majors should reserve individual appointments via Terp Engage. Students may choose to have an in-person or virtual appointment. For virtual appointments, students will receive an email with a Zoom link prior to their appointment.
Mandatory Advising
The following groups of students are required to complete a mandatory advising appointment prior to registering for the next semester.
- Students who are currently registered in their first semester as a Public Health Practice major.
- Students who are currently enrolled in HLTH 302 (Senior Audits).
To satisfy the mandatory advising requirement students must attend an individual advising appointment with a Public Health Practice Academic Advisor. Students will receive an email with directions to satisfy the mandatory advising requirement.
Walk-In Advising
Public Health Practice Advising offers “Walk-In-Wednesdays” each Wednesday from 10:00am-12:00pm during the Fall and Spring semesters. Walk-in advising appointments are 15 minutes each and are reserved for general questions regarding the Bachelor of Science in Public Health Practicedegree program.
During the semester, Walk-In Advising will be offered virtually via Zoom and in the BCH suite. Please use this link to access virtual walk in hours.
During schedule adjustments, walk-in hours are offered in person daily (Monday- Friday) from 12 to 2 p.m.
Prospective Students
Interested in learning more about the Public Health Practice major? Public Health Practice advising offers prospective student appointments for current University of Maryland, College Park students. Students should reserve a prospective student appointment via Terp Engage.
NOTE: It is SPH policy that if a student wishes to bring parents, legal guardians or family members to a meeting with an advisor, faculty member or other School official, this meeting must be scheduled at least 1 business day in advance, and University parties involved must be notified that the student’s parent, legal guardian, or family member will be present at the meeting. The student must also have the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Academic Release Information Form on file with the department. You may contact an advisor in the department to receive a copy of this form if you want to sign it, or you may print it using the link.
