Cynthia Baur, the Center for Health Literacy's Director, co-wrote a chapter in the recently published book, Health Literacy: New Directions in Research, Theory and Practice. The chapter is titled, "The U.S. National Action Plan to Improve Health Literacy: A Model for Positive Organizational Change." It details the specifics of the national plan, its evolution and its influence on public health and health care in the country. The chapter comes in two parts: First, it discusses the development of the National Action Plan followed by the plan's potential in stimulating positive organizational change to create a more health literate society.
