Multiply those instructions by more than a thousand, and that starts to set the scene on the floor of the University of Maryland’s Xfinity Center, transformed into a massive dental and wellness clinic for the Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy & Health Equity Festival.

Mary Jung is a long-time Terp, having earned three degrees at the University of Maryland, College Park: a BS in biological sciences, an MPH and PhD with a concentration in epidemiology.

Capital News Service, Howard Center for Investigative Journalism and NPR interviewed Dr. Sacoby Wilson about heat and inequality for a four-part investigation showing low-income residents in Baltimore disproportionately experience the health effects of climate change. 

Brittany Chambers graduated from the University of Maryland's School of Public Health in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in community health. She went on to earn her Master of Public Health degree at Drexel University's School of Public Health, where she co-authored two peer-reviewed articles and completed an eight-month Health Disparities Research Fellowship. She also completed a six-month Emerging Leaders Program from Mount Sinai Health System.

Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy & Health Equity Festival will provide free dental & health care services for more than 1,000 adults in need.

Despite the ever-increasing reach of the web, less minority and low-income individuals are represented in internet and mobile-based research than in more traditional research. 

Research led by the University of Maryland’s School of Public Health sought ways to diversify survey participants. The study was published in Contemporary Clinical Trials Communications.
