enBloom Collective Partnership

The Office of Public Health Practice & Community Engagement has developed a strong partnership with the enBloom Collective. This partnership began with a common interest in being involved in the transformation of the Crownsville Hospital in Anne Arundel County, MD, and has grown to be a partnership for offering students, faculty, and staff practice opportunities around equitable, holistic health and wellness for Marylanders.

Summer 2024 intern, Barrie Pasternak, conducted an environmental risk assessment of the Crownsville Hospital grounds. You can view the high-level overview here.

While the main focus of the partnership is to establish a community healing space on the site of the Crownsville Hospital, the Office will also be working with enBloom to:

  • Consult on grant writing, funding opportunities, project plans, and/or research proposals.
  • Provide connections with the University of Maryland.
  • Provide student support via Office interns, Office-affiliated classes, or other UMD interns.

In return, the enBloom Collective will:

  • Provide opportunities for real-world, hands-on experiences for public health students to engage in public health practice and work with communities.
  • Deliver a community perspective on community-academic partnerships.
  • Provide evaluation data, where appropriate, about various program outcomes.
  • Provide opportunities for community-driven research and practice partnerships with UMD.
