The nation's first center specifically dedicated to understanding the health and development of young adults, the Center on Young Adult Health and Development aims to focus on conditions that affect the young adult population such as depression, substance abuse, and obesity. The center attempts to understand occupational trajectories of young adults and the unique needs and challenges that prevent many students from finishing college as well as life trajectories of young adults who don't attend college or who live in special circumstances. Research includes a statewide collaborative to reduce college drinking; drug use/abuse trajectories in the transition to adulthood; and gambling and drinking among college students.
